General Installation Guidelines

BG integration and installation examples are generally known proposals. Special types of installation must be determined by the planning authority on the basis of local conditions. The technical sets of regulations and guidelines which are generally known in expert circles must be taken into consideration during installation.

Installation Guidelines FILCOTEN tec

    1. The loading class (pursuant to EN 1433) and the installation site for the respective local installation location must be taken into consideration.

    2. BG concrete channels must be installed on an earth-moist foundation (dimensions see table), whereby attention must be paid to the gradient of the channel (0.5 %) in the excavation. A mortar bed of at least 2 cm must be provided for when hardened concrete slabs are used. It is most important, that the proper tools be used when laying the drain elements (e.g. BG installation tools)

    3. A supporting wedge at the side or a concrete casing is necessary respectively an additional safeguard, according to statically requirements. (See table below)

    4. Pay attention to the varying heights of the gradient channels and start with the relocation of the channel stretch upon transition to the drain. The flow direction is marked with an arrow on each channel.

    5. The safety rabbet between the individual channels can be sealed with suitable sealing masses dependent on the area of application (see processing guidelines for BG seal systems).

    6. The grates must be inserted before manufacture of the adjoining floor covering. When sealing the adjoining surfaces (e.g. when shaking off paving coverings) it must be ensured that these are not pushed against the channels so that mechanical damage can be precluded.
    7. When used in high traffic areas, we recommend the cover to secure it.

    8. An expansion joint must be formed between the BG channels and the lane connection at a max. distance of 0.5 m if necessary (e.g. due to horizontal forces occurring in concrete surfaces, slope angles, etc.). Expansion joints running transversely to the channel stretch must be arranged in the adjoining concrete surfaces in such a way that they run through a channel joint.

    9. All adjoining concrete surfaces should permanently run approx. 3 - 5 mm higher than the surface of the grates.

    10. These same installation guidelines apply analogously to gullies.
